Litigation-aware drafting and prosecution

The chances of litigation are low but never zero.

Brian approaches each application with close attention to the technical disclosure, meaningful claim scope, and the potential for future enforcement or defense. The goal is to create assets that not only capture the invention but also anticipate how others may approach similar technology.

Brian's career as a patent attorney has ranged from serving a broad range of clients at patent boutique firms to in-house counsel work at a public company.

Brian has prepared applications and obtained patents (domestic and abroad) for clients ranging from enterprises and startups to individuals, with an eye toward potential enforcement or defense. He has directed filing activity and prosecution strategy toward commercially relevant claim scope, helping one startup client build a portfolio that led to raising $114M in Series C funding from SoftBank.
